Playroom Ideas

Do you need playroom ideas? Your baby’s playroom should be a place of discovery and imagination – not to mention fun! As well as being a place where they can play and grow, it also needs to be safe from various household hazards.

If your children are old enough, let them pick out paint colours and furniture for their playroom. After all, it’s a room for them to spend time in, so painting it their favourite colour and using their preferred furniture will want to keep them in there for longer!

Here are a few paint swatches from Benjamin Moore that are kid-friendly:

You might even want to decorate the walls with fun wall decals. Blik Graphics (whatisblik.com) offers a selection of youthful decals, like the Wee Gallery Garden or Daisy print.

When it comes to furniture, offer plenty of seating for your child and the friends they bring over to play. Be sure that the furniture doesn’t tip over easy to avoid accidents. Here are a few different seating options for you to choose from:

Kids ChairUpholstered in soft, stain-resistant microfiber, the Pkolino Little Reader Chair will fit your toddler just right and become a great spot to rest and look at books. It weighs only two pounds, and comes with a carrying handle so you can take it anywhere! Choose between five fun shades for your little one.

Musical Rocking Chair

Combining a rocking chair and xylophone in one, the Levels of Discovery Kids Musical Rocking Chair is guaranteed to entertain your child. The 5 note xylophone and matching mallet is attached to one of the armrests, so they can rock out – musically and on the chair!

Kids Table & Chair Set

Please your animal-loving son or daughter with the KidKraft Jungle Kids Table and Chair Set! Each of the chairs features a painted wild animal (panda, lion, elephant, and tiger), and the table can be used from anything from craft time to lunch time.

Kids Sleeper Sofa

The convertible Elite Red Kids Foam Sleeper Sofa changes into a bed if your child ever wants to nap in their playroom or it can be used for sleepovers. It’s filled with comfy foam and is available in lots of colours and patterns.

Corner CushionsIf there are any sharp corners lurking in the playroom, you might want to purchase corner cushions, like the Dream Baby Foam Corner Cushions – 4 Pack. Simply stick them on corner and in case your little one bumps into them, there’s less chance of a serious accident.

Baby Safety Gates

If you want to keep your curious children from wandering out of the playroom, install a pressure-mounted safety gate like the Safety 1st Easy-Fit Security Gate in the door’s archway. Pressure-mounted gates are ideal for doorways because they can be easily installed or removed.

Now that you’ve got all the basics of a playroom covered, what about the toys?

Childrens Jigsaw Puzzles

The 48-piece Melissa & Doug Golden Retriever Puppy Cardboard Jigsaw Puzzle features thick and durable puzzle pieces that will take whatever kids through at them, and is a great family bonding tool – you can help your child develop their puzzle-solving skills.

Kidkraft Dollhouse

The KidKraft Dollhouse Bookcase can be used as a dollhouse, a bookcase, or both! It even has a storage drawer on the bottom to keep extra items in. Your kids will have fun getting organized and putting things away with this dollhouse-themed bookcase.

Melissa & Doug Wood

If your child isn’t necessarily into dollhouses, what about a tree house? The Melissa & Doug Tree House Play Set features a multi-level tree house complete with two figurines that your kids can navigate through the many pulleys and trap doors.

Puppet Theater

Your children can put on their very own puppet show with the Alex Toys Floor Standing Puppet Theatre. It features a chalkboard front where they can write the show name and time, and a clock that has movable hands so they can set the time themselves! It’s a great way for your children to learn how to tell time.

Jumbo Teddy Bear

What makes a playroom without an oversized stuffed animal? The classic Melissa & Doug Jumbo Brown Teddy Bear Plush Stuffed Animal is super soft and huggable – the perfect playtime accessory!

Kids Art Studio

With a chalkboard on one side and a white board on the other, the Alex Toys Super Rolling Art Center can be used by two children at the same time. It’s also easily portable with its two durable rubber wheels, so it can be placed wherever your child feels inspired to make art!

Now you should be well equipped with playroom ideas!
